Here's to you Mrs. Robinson... [Sep. 24th, 2009|11:04 am]
dr_charlie
Spark notes of my current life:

Stephanie and I decided on a wedding date (9/25/10). Pending venue and # of guest that can attend, everyone is invited. I have more friends than family on my guest list. Started the process of looking at venues and deciding things, fun times.

I hate my job. I hate old people.

Have a couple of trips to NOLA planned in my head. It would be awesome if lots of people would join me for good times. I'll keep everyone posted on the dates as they become final.

Making a serious attempt to diet and do some exercise. So far I'm down 1.5 lbs. Probably would be more but Blake "used peer-pressure" (drove) to McDonald's and I couldn't pass up 99cent chicken sandwiches. Also, 8 minute Abs is painful.

Doing some drinking on Saturday night. Anyone that can make it out to BR better, b/c it is going to be freakin' awesome!

Well, that's the just of my life right now. If I think of anything else, I will update again.

Peace, Love, and Ska

. . . feeling emo-ish [Jun. 12th, 2009|11:37 pm]

For everyone who doesn't already know, I moved to Baton Rouge. I finally got a job, which I start on Monday. It isn't my ideal job, but I think that I will be happy there while I decide what else to do with my life (i.e. - go back to school for RN). Anyways. Since moving to the BR I have been thinking about my friends of late. Lots of drama in their lives and the fact that I am not around I worry and at the same time miss their company/questions/advice. But tonight it went slightly farther than my current friends and into the depths of friends who have completely let me down and "I'd rather never be in their company again." With that said, I know about "those" friend's lives and actually feel sorry for them. I know I attempt to put the "cold-hearted SOB" image on myself but in actuality, that isn't me (notice I chose Nursing as a career). Part of me wants to reconnect and converse with these friends even though I know that nothing I can say or do will change what has happened between the two of them, but I think I can forgive them for what they have done to me and our mutual friends. But at the same time, I don't know if I can handle all the baggage that would go along with re-establishing our friendship. I guess it is a matter of a second chance in the hopes that it would make their lives better. I'm not that important of a person though. I don't know, at this point I am just rambling on.

they say if you can't say something, write it down.

Sorry if I have bored you.

. . eternal waiting [Apr. 14th, 2009|04:40 pm]

. . .I think the worse part about having a "get together" is that once everything is ready you have to wait for people to show up. . . Which is not until 7-ish. Grrrr. . . boredom.

Thanks for flying "Dr_Charlie" airlines, we hope you've enjoyed your flight. . .even though the plane crashed. . .

Taking it all in. [Apr. 11th, 2009|01:44 am]

[music |Benjy Davis Project - Sweet Southern Moon]

My life has been a bit chaotic as of late and not neccessarily in a bad way. There is just so much going on at once for me that it is hard to keep up. I think that I will be okay though.

For those of you who do not know and still care about what goes on in the life of Jacob Mayeux, I have news. A couple of weeks ago I ask Stephanie to marry me. I am also happy to announce that she said yes. And honestly, I've never been happier than I currently am with her. (Stay tuned for wedding information - YOU ARE ALL INVITED)

I officially have 27 days left (weekends included) before I am officially a nurse. The hardest parts of school are over with, and it is all downhill from here. I just need to find a job now, shouldn't be too hard, and pass my board exams.

We are moving to Baton Rouge at the end of May/begining of June. If anyone is in the area, or would like to move there please do because I currently have no friends there (sadness). Or if you would like to hang out, just message me I will give you my info.

Well, I will try to update more, but until then. . .
Peace, Love, and Ska

Market is crashing. . .more and more. And I am torn between letting stupid people suffer for their mistakes and helping the market now and hopefully not going into a depression (although I'm starting to think that it is inevitable). The whole situation is just fucked up.

OB is almost over and thankfully I haven't seen a vaginal birth yet. And on top of that, I have only had to see one nasty, hairy, mucusy, bloody vagina. I did however get to watch a CRNA put in a epidural catheter, fucking awesome. That needle is about 6 inches long and between a 16 & 18 gauge, stuck into the spine. Awesome. This experience is almost over.

I failed to mention that about 2 weeks ago while I was working graveyard I got to see a drunk guy get beat up by the cops. I decided to go get something out of my car only to realize that there was a guy sleeping on the ground about 2 inches from my driver's side door. I walked back inside and called 911. I learned that they no longer ask "what's your emergency," it is now "what are you reporting." Anyways, so it takes about 10 minutes for the cop to get to work, and I'm inside the clinic watching on the camera. The cop pokes the guy with his billy-club and then bends down to what looked like help the guy up. The guy springs to his feet, the cop gets in attack position, then the guy rushes at the cop only to be hit in the chest with the billy-club. At this point they are no longer in the view of the camera so I run to the back door to see what is going on. The guy is on his knees trying to get up, and every time he tries the cops yells at him to get on his stomach and then hits the guy in the shoulder/back. But the guy is stubborn and keeps trying to get up. It takes about it takes about 45 seconds for 7 cop cars and an ambulance to show up. Another cop eventually rushes the guy in his back with the billy-club and then struggle to put handcuffs on him. It was fucking awesome. The guy was drunk off of his ass and probably in excruciating pain now. I wrote up a report for the cops. This was the first time I ever called 911. Made for an exciting night.

Anyways, Life is good for now.

Vaginas. . . [Sep. 20th, 2008|09:32 pm]
dr_charlie
So on Monday I will start my OB rotation in clinical. This means that I will have to look at Vaginas on a regular basis and deal with pregnant women. . .I hate this aspect of nursing. I have no desire to ever do this within my career. . .grr. Luckily it will only last about a month and then it is on to Pediatrics (I can deal with kids. . .for a little while). Wish me luck!

Peace, Love, and Ska.

Maybe Wednesday will mark the end of the world. . . [Sep. 8th, 2008|05:42 pm]

"How's life?" Well let me tell you. . .

Sleep deprivation sucks, however I do it to myself. Between work, school, and trying to spend as much time with Stephi as I can I don't really have time to sleep. As far as school goes, I've hit the downhill part. I have until May left and then I really don't know what is going to happen. As of right now, Stephi is optimistic that she did well on her GRE so I guess its just a matter of whether or not she will get into UNC. If she doesn't, I don't know where we'll be or what we will do, but we'll figure it out. This is just another part of my life, and I will deal with it whenever the time arises for me to deal with it. On a positive note, Stephi and I are doing great.

I'm absolutely sick of the RNC. As a democrat, I think that choosing Palin was not only a joke and an insult to Hillary supporters, but a move by McCain to do ANYTHING to win. And on that note, it is sickening that the US votes for reasons that aren't political. I think that you should have to take an IQ test and a test on basic knowledge of the candidates' platforms before you can vote. It makes me sick listening to people explaining to other the wrong information about candidates (Obama a muslim. . .WTF are you stupid? and what would that matter anyways? "Have you heard of the Koran?" I reply. . .have you heard of the "Holy Bible". . .stupid fucks) Obama for President!

Football season is back and the Saints won their first game. Awesome.

Fucking Hurricanes. . .go away, I like my electricity.

On Wednesday the LHC will be firing two Particles at near light speed at one another (awesome) opening the books for physics of the future. I think that is awesome, others think that a black hole may form. . .so, if the world "ends", it was nice knowing all of you.

Peace, Love, & Ska

Support Net Neutrality!

Vote Obama in November

From http://www.barackobama.com/issues/technology/

Barack Obama's Plan
Ensure the Full and Free Exchange of Information through an Open Internet and Diverse Media Outlets

* Protect the Openness of the Internet: A key reason the Internet has been such a success is because it is the most open network in history. It needs to stay that way. Barack Obama strongly supports the principle of network neutrality to preserve the benefits of open competition on the Internet. Users must be free to access content, to use applications, and to attach personal devices. They have a right to receive accurate and honest information about service plans. But these guarantees are not enough to prevent network providers from discriminating in ways that limit the freedom of expression on the Internet. Because most Americans only have a choice of only one or two broadband carriers, carriers are tempted to impose a toll charge on content and services, discriminating against websites that are unwilling to pay for equal treatment. This could create a two-tier Internet in which websites with the best relationships with network providers can get the fastest access to consumers, while all competing websites remain in a slower lane. Such a result would threaten innovation, the open tradition and architecture of the Internet, and competition among content and backbone providers. It would also threaten the equality of speech through which the Internet has begun to transform American political and cultural discourse. Barack Obama supports the basic principle that network providers should not be allowed to charge fees to privilege the content or applications of some web sites and Internet applications over others. This principle will ensure that the new competitors, especially small or non-profit speakers, have the same opportunity as incumbents to innovate on the Internet and to reach large audiences. Obama will protect the Internet’s traditional openness to innovation and creativity and ensure that it remains a platform for free speech and innovation that will benefit consumers and our democracy.
